Displaying access key assignments

It goes without saying that a desktop software application has keyboard shortcuts. Notwithstanding some old evidence that it is faster to use the mouse, it is surprisingly frustrating to use an application with no accelerator keys. That is why it is odd how long it has taken web applications to start using keyboard shortcuts, which have been available in HTML since 1997.

Information radiators: from dashboard to wall

Many software project managers are keen on ‘management dashboards’ for project status information. I have never really liked the idea, but it was not until I put an ‘information radiator’ on the wall that I worked out why.

I liked it so much I bought the company

When I was growing up one advertisement spoke to me more than the average sale. Not so much for the style or content - more the underlying message. It was truly American - it basked in the wonders of the American Dream.

The company was Remington. The man Victor Kiam.
