In StackOverflow Podcast #7, Joel Spoelsky points out that 'I have yet to find another company except for Microsoft and Apple, I think, that has private offices for developers'. Personally, I agree with Joel that that it is valuable for a developer to have a private office, but then I would say that because I have one:
In his excellent book The Invisible Computer, Donald Norman explains the computer changing from something you might have one of at home (a multi-purpose PC) to an unseen component in special-purpose devices from washing machines and refrigerators to portable telephones and music players. The same thing is happening with graphics software, and this article considers one specific example. Along the way, I also explain how to produce cat macros.
One of Lunatech Ventures' cool investments at the moment is Eximion - next generation games on the web. Now that Eximion is ready for the prime time, it was interesting to talk to art director Chris van der Linden about the work behind the graphics, and how he has a huge catalogue of sketches that he made while developing ideas and game characters.

I'd like to tell you about the Urban Country Club, but I am not sure if I can. It is an invite only network club in Rotterdam, where members can invite one new member, but only if they don't know them. Or something like that. That said, membership can't be too exclusive as they let me in. Perhaps they needed a token IT company as the rest of the people are very creative, coming from the arts, film, madvertising and the like.
